Learn About Massage Therapy

What is Massage Therapy?

Massage therapy is the manipulation of the muscles and other soft tissues of the body (as by kneading, stroking, and or rubbing with one of both hands or an instrument) for therapeutic purposes.

Massage therapists operate from a holistic standpoint and can help you clarify your physical goals, identify the unhealthy practices, and then come up with strategies for overcoming any body related challenges. It is believed that the more our mind is in tune with our body, we have the ability to enhance  and optimize our total well being.

Common Types of Massages

  • Swedish Massage is a gentle form of massage that uses long strokes, kneading, deep circular movements, vibration and tapping. It helps with feeling relaxed and energized.
  • Deep Massage technique uses slower, more forceful strokes to target the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. It’s commonly used to help with muscle damage from injuries.
  • Trigger Point Massage focused on areas of tight muscle fibers that can form in your muscles after injuries or overuse.
  • Aromatherapy Massage combines soft, gentle pressure with the use of essential oils that will be absorbed through inhalation and the skin.
