Dr. Bernstein has extensive experience treating a variety of psychiatric illnesses, with a particular interest in mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. Additionally, she has a background focusing on women’s behavioral health issues which includes disorders during pregnancy and post-partum as well as women’s life cycle issues. She has training and experience in psychopharmacology as well as individual psychotherapy. Her therapy training and experience enables her to deliver psychopharmacologic treatment using a therapeutic framework. Dr. Bernstein incorporates psychotherapy into her medication management sessions which helps to augment the effectiveness of the medication. She works to build trust between herself and her patients and strives to build long term relationships with them.
Emily Bernstein, MD is a Board-certified psychiatrist with two decades of experience treating patients in the Delaware Valley. She received her medical degree from The University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in 2001 and completed her residency in Psychiatry at the Hospital of The University of Pennsylvania in 2005. She was formerly the head of the Women’s Behavioral Health Program at Crozer Medical Center. Dr. Bernstein was recognized as a Main Line Today “Top Doc” in 2013.
