Dr. James Abiola

Dr. James Abiola, PsyD

LICENSED PSYCHOLOGIST

Personal Statement:

For many, life focuses primarily on our internal world (our internal thoughts/perceptions), work life, family, and social life. Challenges in any of these domains can significantly diminish our quality of life and jeopardize our mental health. As a licensed Psychologist, I have seen this firsthand.

Life can be a roller coaster if we do not actively engage in healthy coping while also preparing ourselves for life’s inevitable challenges. We all experience suffering and we all have the capacity to create a healthier life. We can all heal from our stressors, challenges, and trauma.

My name is Dr. James Abiola, but I am affectionately known as Dr Jay by my clients and colleagues alike. Together me and you will embark on a journey of health with the purpose of healing your mind, body, and soul to allow you to create the life that you deserve.

“Therapy is an art and not an absolute science” was some wise words from an old mentor. There is much more to therapy than reading and applying clinical theory. My therapeutic approach is primarily evidence-based cognitive-behavioral therapy with an appreciation and integration of psychodynamic, humanistic, solution-focused and family systems approaches.

As a therapist, I have over 20 years of experience in treating individuals, families, and couples from all works of life. I have had the pleasure of training and work experiences at the Children Hospital of Pennsylvania, Holcomb Behavioral Health Systems, Child Guidance Resource Centers, Rider University, Philadelphia Mental Health Center, and Swarthmore College.
