LICENSED PROFESSIONAL COUNSELOR

Personal Statement:

Hello!
I am a therapist proud to aid both the young and the young at heart. My personal style of counseling is based in authenticity, warmth, and unwavering empathy and support. The process of growth is often not easy, and I believe that establishing trust and safety is the foundation of the work I do with my clients. As a therapist, I consider it a privilege to bear witness to another’s
inner world and experience. It is my goal to empower my clients and to walk beside them in their healing journey as a guide and compassionate confidant.

Adolescence is a time of life that presents significant challenges for both children and parents. It is both a harrowing and exhilarating experience for young people to discover who they are, what they believe, and what they wish to do in life. It is my highest aim to help such young people find their own sense of purpose, their own passions, and their own self-love so that they may celebrate their identity with a joyful heart.

I have worked with a wide variety of clients, and have utilized a breadth of counseling techniques including CBT, DBT, group therapy, expressive arts, and roleplay. I often like to focus on the ‘here-and-now”, helping clients garner insight from their emergent feelings and behaviors, while gently guiding and supporting through steady encouragement. As insight grows through attunement with internal processes, clients are better able to respond to both internal and external stressors, and confidence grows from success.

I have experience working both as a school counselor and intensive group therapist, and have dedicated my career to helping struggling young people. I have also worked closely with children in residential care, having been a caregiver and advocate for clients coping with severe trauma and parental separation.

I have seen success in treating a variety of mood and anxiety disorders and have helped families to improve their relationships through group sessions, psychoeducation, and communication training.

In my free time I enjoy hiking, photography, cooking, music, and tabletop gaming.

Education

Having completed my Master’s Degree in Counseling from University of Central Florida in 2017, I have spent years working both in educational and clinical environments, dedicating myself to helping young people thrive.

I also hold a certificate in Gifted Education, and have a special interest in the psychosocial needs of gifted individuals. As a specialist in gifted psychology, I have presented at conferences in both in America and Europe on the needs of gifted individuals.
