22 Feb Need anything? Dial 2-1-1
We’ve recently learned about an amazing resource for residents of the Philadelphia area including Delaware, Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, and Philadelphia counties. It’s simple – just dial 2-1-1.
This number is an “information and referral service” for anyone in Southeastern Pennsylvania who is seeking help with health or human service needs, including winter storm-related needs. Information is available on food banks, shelters, child care services, affordable health insurance, mental health services, and disaster preparedness, as well as many other options. The line is open 7 days a week from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. When you call you will get a simple recording with just a couple of options. If you choose the first option (dial “21”), you get an actual human being, a very pleasant one, who can help you find whatever resources you may need.
The referral line has a website, which you can access here. And to learn more, you can watch a short video about this great new resource. The video is translated into American Sign Language and captioned. In addition, YouTube allows you to change the captions to various languages.
